Meet the Artist

The artist behind Craftyrats

Max is a sustainable textile artist in Flagstaff, Arizona. Working primarily with secondhand and discarded materials, he transforms overlooked textiles into one-of-a-kind works that explore personal expression and the interactive elements of art.

In 2025, Max founded CraftyRats.com, presenting collections of wearable art that challenge conventional expectations of clothing. Through detailed embroidery and interactive elements, he reimagines discarded garments as expressive, sculptural forms that resist the disposability of fast fashion and invite playful, intentional self-expression.

Though not all of Max’s work is wearable, each piece tells a story. Secondhand textiles carry memories in their woven fibers that bring meaning to the ordinary. Sustainable artwork is not only necessary for our future, but also reconnects us to our past.
