CraftyRats measurements
All clothing listed on the CraftyRats shop will list in the description:
-
The size as labeled on the clothing itself
-
The flat measurements of the item
It's important to look at the flat measurements of the item itself and not just assume the labeled size will fit you. Since these garments are upcycled, they come from various different brands, each with their own slightly different sizing guides. To ensure the clothing you buy will fit you and not need to be returned, using the flat measurements is essential.
How to know your measurements
For tops, take a shirt that you feel like fits you well. Lay it down on a flat surface and use a measuring tape to measure like so:
1. Shoulders: measure from the shoulder seams at the top of the shirt. In this example, this shirt has a shoulder length of 17 in.

2. Sleeve Length: Measure from the end of the sleeve to the top of the shoulder seam. Then add this to half of your previously measured shoulder length. In this example, the sleeve is 7.5 in, which I will then add to half of my shoulder length, 8.5 in, which gives me a sleeve length of 16 in.

3. Chest: Measure from the side seams underneath the armpits of the shirt. In this example, the chest is 19.5 in wide.

4. Length: Measure from the top of the shoulder to the bottom of the hem. In this example, the length is 27 in.

Now you can compare your measurements to the ones of the CraftyRats shirt you are interested in. If the numbers are smaller, you know it will be tighter in that area, and if they are bigger, it will be looser. Now you can make a decision with the confidence you know what kind of fit you'll be getting.
